Miike Snow (Brilliant) and Mt Eden Dubstep (Dutty)
Yo! In the interest of keeping this blog going I’ve decided to make a post! We’ve got a couple of tunes here that i’ve been listening to over that last couple of weeks.
First up we have this Miike Snow smasher. Catchy synths, great fidgety bassline and brilliant vocals. Electro Pop at it’s best! Everyone else take note… this is how you do it!

Mt Eden Dubstep are new to me… I’ve/You’ve got my good friend Vicki to thank for this filthy dub tune. Beautiful vocals introduce us to a nice grimey baseline. It’s quite simply layered with not too much going on yet it maintains it’s distinctly deep dubstep feel. Sub-bass is strong on this track if you’ve got the speakers to handle it.

The wait is over! I first heard this track live from Fake Blood at Field Day ’09. Theo Keating has produced yet another belter of a track, with what I consider to be the best FB name drop yet! Beth Ditto screaming Fake Blood sounds so good! The “Love Long Distance” EP is hitting our online, mp3, retailer of choice on the 13th of September. Featuring this mix and a mix from Riva Starr it’s set to be a solid EP.

YAY! Chase and Status getting some more pixel-estate on my home page… and boy do they deserve it! The remix is sick. It’s guitar heavy, rockin dubstep! Fantastic production on this track. Deep face melting guitar-lead bass and yet the vocals from Nneka are clear throughout! Beautifully energetic you’ll smile from ear to ear.

I’VE GOT MA WEAZAL OUT!
So about 2/3 weeks ago it was BASS WEAZAL’s birthday. It’s weird that I don’t really blog that much of their stuff. They define my taste in music so completely. Filthy basslines (clues in the name) and chopped up vocals. That taken into account i’m going to make some effort with this post 🙂
Will Bailey’s first project was Twocker, and although a huge success, he decided a natural musical move forward for him required something a little different….the answer to this was for him to bring in well respected fidget and house DJ ILL PHIL, Phil Dolman. Together they worked in search for a sound with a different take to electro than Twocker. Influences from artists such as Switch, Herve and Fake Blood all were added to the blending pot until one epic day, BASS WEAZAL was born.
With collaborations under their belt and in the pipeline already from respected artists such as the talented ‘Mikey Hook’, Jelo and Foamo, and Remixes done for Soul Candi, Ho-Ju, Nytee Trax, and Dj Dan on Instereo…Bass Weazal really are creating big waves in the global electro scene that border on the tsunami scale!!
Their wonky basslines and off-the-beansprout beats are shaking up the electro baseline scene bigtime.

Ok, It’s been a while. But i’ve finally found a song i’m excited about.. and it comes from the ever dependable Chase and Status. This tune is filthy good… great drops, interesting sounds and epic sounding vocals! I actually downloaded it initially without hearing it… Stuck it on a CD for my 1hr morning drive to work… Chris Moyles is good, but not exactly on the cutting edge of new music.
Anyway, got driving down the m11, all good so far… Then came the m25… CARNAGE! A lorry fire ment for 7 junctions the traffic was going at maybe 3miles an hour. I spent 4hrs in the heat… with no cold air because my radiator matrix was leaking… which ment every half an hour I was having to put more cold water in the engine. Effort! Despite it all this song made it somewhat bearable. It got me… and the surrounding cars dancing!

Okay… So it’s not like i’m a massive dnb poster, but I love IT! And I LUV High Contrast, I buy everything he throws out there. I suggest you do the same! His remixes are awesome and never fail to deliver. I heard this massive tune earlier this evening on Radio 1 (cheers Zane) and had to blog it! Shiveringly good vocal chops and a relentlessly deep baseline.. Wickidy Bo!
